What Phosphor collects

Nothing. Phosphor does not use analytics, does not track your clicks, and does not send usage data anywhere. Everything the app does happens locally on your Mac and stays there.

Network connections

Phosphor is designed to be fully functional offline. It only makes outbound network requests in these specific scenarios:

1. Activating and confirming Phosphor Pro: If you purchase a Pro license, the app securely contacts our payment provider (Gumroad) to validate your key when you activate it, and periodically re-confirms it is still valid while you are online (at launch and about once a day). Only your license key and our product identifier are sent; nothing about your screen or your usage. If you are offline, Pro keeps working for up to 7 days since the last successful check.
2. Checking for updates (not active yet): Update checking is not available in the current version, and the app does not check for updates on its own. When it is added, it will only run when you click "Check for Updates," will only read the latest version number from our server, and will not run in the background.

Payments

Pro purchases are processed by Gumroad, our payment provider. Gumroad collects the information necessary to complete your purchase (such as your email and payment details) under its own privacy policy. This is separate from Phosphor itself, which remains fully local as described above.

Files

Phosphor only interacts with your file system when you explicitly ask it to—for example, saving a screenshot to a folder you choose. It never scans, moves, or alters your personal files.

Data storage

Your app preferences are saved locally using standard macOS UserDefaults. If you upgrade to Pro, your license key is stored securely in the local macOS Keychain.

Children's privacy

Phosphor is a general-purpose display utility. Because the app does not collect user information, it inherently does not collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will reflect it. Any meaningful changes regarding data or permissions will also be explicitly highlighted in the app's release notes.
